JAZZ PROMO SERVICES
CAROL FREDETTE/Everything In Time:  Here’s a special treat for hipsters, the return of a New York hipster vocalist that hasn’t recorded in over a decade but comes back with her Brazil/pop sound in fine form.  A sidekick of all the greats in New York jazz over more years than we care to remember, this set will perk up any set of jaded ears in need of a kick from a pro.  The set card pulls from all quadrants, handling them all in fine style and keeping things from getting predictable even where chestnuts are concerned.  Simply a wonderful date that hits all the right notes throughout.  Check it out.

REBECCA CLINE & HILARY NOBLE/Enclave Diaspora:  A fresh take on Latin jazz fusion, this piano/sax led combo continues to make good on initial promises by coming in with original material that kicks ass.  Colorful, fiery, fresh music that’s muy caliente, this is simply one of those party on a platter discs that knows how to let the good times roll.  Solid stuff from a crew you better keep your ears open for.

KARI ON PRODUCTIONS
ZEN ZADRAVEC QUARTET/Coming of Age:  An Oscar Peterson award winner, this Canuck piano man makes his debut recording with a jazzy date that respects the chestnuts but charts new courses from his own pen as well.  A player with a lot of feeling and emotion, he can run you through a whole gamut of feelings in the course of this recording.  Well textured and smartly played, this is the product of paying dues playing with players who want to have their game raised while you let them have the spotlight.  Zadravec walks the tightrope well.  This kind of stuff works mightily and will please that forward thinking jazz piano fan on the prowl.
7741 (ZZM)

ROGER CAIRNS/Let’s:  An LA cat by way of Scotland, this jazzy vocalist gets points just  for doing a vocal version of “Peter Gun” and “Gravy Waltz“.  Giving things a nice, swinging edge, this guy is a pro well deserving of recognition outside of the LA basin.  The kind of a fun cat that’s in it to spread the good times, the only deep meaning you’ll find here is to kick back and enjoy yourself.  A nice soundtrack to anything where something less august than Sinatra and the rest of the vocal Mt. Rushmore is needed to make things have the right ring-a-ding.  He knows his stuff righteously.

LESLIE LEWIS/Of Two Minds:  We learned a long time ago that there’s plenty of great jazz talent working in hotel bars across the country and even though we never heard of Lewis before, we now feel like going to the Four Season for a cocktail to see if she’s around.  You can’t fault a girl for liking Monk and she certainly distinguishes herself on this set with it’s Monk overtones.  A winning set for jazz vocal fans that are finding they just can’t keep listening to the same reissues forever.
3100 (Surf Cove Jazz)

DENNIS DAY/All Things in Time:  Ay, laddie, no old time Irish tenor here, this jazz singer doesn’t even feature anything in Jack Benny’s sidekick’s key even when the songs come from that era.  He tackles a lot iconic songs.  While he does a bang up job, he won’t make you forget the originals, but this isn’t the kind of bravado performance that is geared to makes you do anything but enjoy the original and the later made as well.  A stylish vocalist that has the passion and the chops to sell a great song without leveling himself to comparisons.
