MIXED MEDIA
SUNDAD/The Journey Continues:  It might have it’s new age moments, but over all, this is a world/jazz trio that plays with spark and fire serving up the kind of pyrotechnics that make fusion fans sit up and take notice.  A tasty trio that knows it’s stuff, this is tasty adult instrumental work that delivers the goods.
(Sundad)

MARY ANN ROSSONI/Timber & Nails:  A back porch singer/songwriter, Rossoni makes her albums slowly but obviously surely.  With a load of solid folk flavored material that hit’s the mark, this isn’t the kind of music you label (pomo feminist bla bla bla), you just listen to it and enjoy.  A solid set that recalls the meaty kind of stuff that echoed through early 70s dorm rooms whether it was a hit or not.
(Elixir)

JOE PARILLO/Segments:  The jazz piano man returns to the trio format which has served his recorded world the best so far and let’s fly by making the most of the classic trio format.  A light and lively date that doesn’t aspire to more than being comfy and fun, this date works well with brunch, walkabouts and other activities that require something that sets the tone in an easy style.  Tasty work that makes you take note.  An award winner that doesn’t hit you over the head with his accomplishments, Parillo is sure to make you a believer in short order too.
(Neoga)

SHAWN MAXWELL/Originals 2:  Chicago sax man Maxwell rounds up a crew of local college grads to back him up and makes another rousing set that is loaded with some hot blowing and good vibes.  A tasty player with a great sense of jazz running through his work, Maxwell shines brightly here with a set that lets him shine.  Fun stuff that gives you all the right skronk and honk in all the right measure.  Check it out.

JOHN STEIN/Encounterpoint:  A smart jazz guitar man with international ears rounds up some of what should become usual suspects for a date that gives you an around the world jazz tour.  Solidly played throughout, this is simply a solid set, well constructed that does a fine job of capturing lightening in a bottle.  On point throughout, this is a welcome addition to any jazz guitar collection.
(Whaling City Sound)

BENN CLATWORTHY/The Decider:  Muscular sax man that equally at home with a sensitive flute kicks out the jams for a hard hitting set that pulls no punches but pulls out the stops and gives you a real jam to savor.  Fun stuff that hits high octane delivery right out of the box and shows you that Englishmen know how to honk like New Yorkers.  A solid work throughout.
