BLUE RABBIT
BLUE RABBIT/Separate:  Up and coming singer/songwriter Heather Anderson shows she’s well on her way with this song cycle in the tradition of some of Van Dyke Parks’ off beat works tilling this ground.  Contemporary stuff for contemporary ears, Anderson and her crew have studied well and know how to serve it right.  A deep work on the art rock side that college girls right of goth can easily take to heart.

GO MEDIA
MORT WEISS/All Too Soon:  The clarinet man hooks up with 7 string guitar man, Ron Eschette for a snazzy duo date that is a high spot for chamber/listening jazz.  Two aces that know how to get the job done right with feeling simply let the good vibes flow.  Lyrical and lively, this is a listening date that will really open your ears.  Check it out.
(SMS Jazz)

JOVINO SANTOS NETO & WEBER IAGO/Live at Caramoor:  Simply a piano tour de force date when two masters of Brazilian jazz piano come together for the first time to share a stage, playing alone and together on original and classic works on pianos a lot of players would kill to get.  Absolutely killer in it’s simplicity, this is real music for jaded ears that have long past enjoying Britney Spears with the sound off.  Certainly a high point for real music.

LISA REEDY PROMOTIONS
LARRY McDONOUGH QUARTET/Simple Gifts:  Sometimes, all you need is some originals mixed with some holiday material, mixed with some faves that sound good and all of a sudden you have a fun to listen to date that isn’t out to change the world so much as it it out to give you a good time.  Solid jazz piano man that serves it up in fine form.

LITTLE (i) MUSIC
SHAKERS N’ BAKERS/YFZ:  Generally, I think most of us will set aside any political/religious undertones that follow Shaker music and it’s connection to Mormon music and recent Mormon developments basically because if we aren’t Mormons or Shakers, we don’t know anything about it all and have problems of our own.  So let’s focus on the music.  We all know “Simple Gifts” is a good hippie song and here a bunch of smart jazzbos take it to the next level of the game adding some other complimentary composers works as well.  A nice out there date that lets the sonic seeker have a field day.

NEW EARTH
TURIYA HANOVER/Healing the Body:   A little two fisted guided mediation as Hanover gives you the lecture over the soundtrack and follows it up with just the soundtrack so you can heed her life coach words or not but at least you can go inside and get something done to make yourself feeling better in these tough times.  These days, healing the body says it all.

SHAMBHALA/various:  A nice round up of label artists grouped together to do a bunch of contemporary spiritual musics that are designed for alternative health pursuits.  Well programmed and nicely stacked, this is a well rounded sampler that does great things for the artist, the label and the fan.  Well worth it for genre fans looking for what’s new in the field.

PARIJAT/Reiki Healing Waves:  If you aren’t into it, I guess it’s hard to understand how you can get a massage without getting touched, but that’s what Reiki energy work is all about.  This is gentle music that goes with non-touchy/feely disciplines like that and at least it’ll sound good while you aren’t getting your massage.  A deep set with international roots, there’s something tasty here for the seeker seeking something new.

RED CAT PUBLICITY
AVISHAI COHEN/Flood:  Solid world jazz trio that kicks ass on a set that’s part of the composers rainy trilogy.  Cohen has become an established brand and even if he goes off on flights of fancy, it’s worth taking the trip with him just to see where it winds up.  Tasty, deep stuff that’s made for solid jazz listening.
