GO MEDIA
SHAUN BARROWES/Big Bang Theory: If this guy’s name rings a bell, you probably remember him from his cup of coffee on “American Idol”. Like so many others who drift through the show, he seems to see it as a springboard rather than finale. This self-produced set finds him casting himself as a go to guy, not content just to dish up the same slag over and over. With the kind of under the radar spunk it takes to get anywhere these days on his plate by the truck load, he’s been hitting the ball to all fields in his quest for world domination. This set covers a lot of pop culture ground, and covers it well, and a lot of it seems a million miles away form AI. He’s sure to take you by surprise no matter from which entry point you are aware of him.

ON TARGET MEDIA
AARON PARKS/Invisible Cinema: A precocious youngster that already has five years of big-league experience under his belt, this zesty piano man loves to do his share genre splicing letting the influences flow fast and furiously. Certainly the kind of jazz that can bring younger tastes into the tent, his work is energetic and engaging as well as quite technically evolved. With the kind of expertise and passion that jazz needs to stay vital in the future provided by Parks he’s sure to be one of the mainstays of tomorrow.
09011 (Blue Note)
RACHAEL SAGE/Chandelier: Alternately called the Jewish Norah Jones or another Tori Amos, Sage probably has more in common with Ani DiFranco than any of the commentators realize. This hard-working do-it-yourselfer has managed to go her own way and do it quite successfully as well as push her art forward. While there is something to be said for the comparisons she certainly does emerge as an artist with something to say in her own right. This is the kind of creative release longtime fans won’t be shy about spreading the word over. There’s a lot here for girls ready to graduate from teeny bop pop.

TWO FOR THE SHOW MEDIA
BILL CANTRALL/Axiom: An interesting cat that’s been paying interesting dues, Cantrall has definitely been learning while he’s been earning as he’s traveled the country to pursue various degrees while also pursuing various recording assignments. This set finds him making his debut as a leader surrounded himself with good company. Showing himself to be a swinging jazzbo to the core, Cantrall doesn’t really show his roots in classical or groove and tears it up nicely with some real pros at his side. Certainly a must hear set for people that like their jazz bold and brassy.

DVD SUPPLEMENT
SONY PICTURES
THREE STOOGES Collection V. 3 1940-42: Listen up chuckleheads, this is the third fifth of the Curly years and it’s pretty much the meat of the batting order. With Moe playing Hitler (the first actor to do so) and the whole gang going over the top in all kind of misadventures, Stoogophiles can revel in 23 shorts that have been remastered to be viewed as they should be. 400 minutes of laughs are on board, so if you like being first on your block and if the weather sucks this holiday weekend, guys, tell your girlfriends to fire up some mojitos with the girl friends and leave you alone for some high times, pre-Cheech and Chong style. No wonder this stuff has lived in TV repeats forever, it’s purely hilarious and it seems to get better with age. This is a package you can count on for loads of nyuk, nyuk, nyuks. Check it out.

You are just right regarding Shaun Barrowes. I ran across this guy at a Barnes and Noble Book release party - we was doing a mini concert and WOW! I LOVE is sound er, sounds. Terrific range and variety got me hooked. I actually picked up a pre-release of Big Bang Theory - very, very nice! He\\\’s got my recommendation and what\\\’s up the top 48 in AI?!? He should have been in the finals!
Smiles,
