COLLECTORS CHOICE (www.ccmusic.com)
KINGSTON TRIO/Turning Like Forever-Rarities v. 2:  Any John Stewart fan will tell you that Tom DeLisle wrote one of the greatest eulogies of all time. His liner notes for this collection pick up where he left off giving you quite a moving, personal portrait.  And then we get to the music.  With a bunch of stuff that somehow escaped the attention of Bear Family, there’s only a few misfires amid the bounty of stuff that’s never been released.  In addition to the music there’s extracts from a radio show that shows the trio have a great time.  With enough good stuff going on here this is more than just a curio for the hard-core fan that has to have everything.

LISA REEDY PROMOTIONS
FUNKY MUSTARD/Jazza Mostaza:  Here’s a bunch of jazzbos from Texas that are simply out for a good time.  Not at all concerned with where to draw the line, they merrily genre splice all kinds of elements from world and jazz mixing it up with elements from contemporary masters they enjoy.  Fueled by the simpatico that comes from playing together for awhile, this ensemble makes their moves with an easy grace that makes it fun to listen to.  The kind of stuff you want to have around when it’s time to kick back.

SCISSORMEN/Luck in a Hurry:  When a sizzling, white, blues slide guitarist finds a way to merge his love for Delta blues with a punk ethos, if he’s got his eye on the ball you get blazing results like this.  A killer diller, amped up blues extravaganza, Ted Drozdowski uses his passion to honor the past and look to the future.  Blazing their way out of coffee houses and into major festivals, once you get a load of the energy that it takes to stay on that course you’ll be a believer as well.  A solid bet for people interested in the future of the blues.

TELARC
SIMONE DINNERSTEIN/Berlin Concert:  After an auspicious recording debut that was powered by her need to feel like she was making up for lost time, Dinnerstein shows it was no fluke by following that date up with a live concert on a different program of material that shows she’s certainly one of the faces of classical piano for tomorrow.  Bouncing back and forth between the masters and a contemporary composer, this set is more like a suite than a bunch of pieces thrown together.  A player that doesn’t back down from a challenge, she brings a new focus to Bach and Beethoven long after you think you’ve heard it all.  While it’s certainly a classical date, the power of the instrumental work has what it takes to reach out to any fan of accomplished instrumental music.

DVD SUPPLEMENT
PARAMOUNT HOME VIDEO
SOUTH PARK Complete Eleventh Season Uncensored:  There might only be 14 episodes but Stone and Parker keep the laughs coming in an avalanche that makes it seem like there’s 114 episodes.  With the “Imaginationland” arc, Cartman’s gay prank that backfires, South Park’s own experience with mean girls, too many homeless, the N-bomb episode, trouble with terrorists, Cartman faking tourettes, the real story of the Easter Bunny, the fight against head lice, the Battle of the Bands in “Rock Star” and more, on this set you once again have to shake your head and wonder how the show hasn’t jumped the shark yet.  But of course you’re glad that it hasn’t.  Sit back and enjoy the antics of the little monsters one more time and be glad the ubiquity of the net is making marketers more fearless because who wants to hear Cartman be beeped?
