MARCOS ARIEL/4 Friends:  The Brazilian piano man brings in guitarist Ricardo Silveira for this set. If you’ve been following contemporary world jazz, these are a pair of names that should be on our radar and this set finds them in top form.  With a passion that makes him a musical sponge, soaking up local work, classics and American piano jazz, Ariel has his own vision which appears to be getting more and more 20/20 as he gets older.  Simply an engaging set that feels like a bop/samba fusion and can either be taken as a party starter or an earbud getaway.  Tasty winning work with a sunny feel that adult ears will love.

HARRI KAKOULLI/Bliss Like Gold:  This boy is well traveled; from playing bass with Squeeze to working with King Sunny Ade and Natascha Atlas, he has some resume.  This world fusion outing finds him paying musical tribute to his departed father and it’s quite a crackling, passionate date indeed.  A very touching and affecting work, this is sure to ping a reaction from anyone who has felt something deeply and needs a focus to release those feelings.

CeU/Remixed ep:  If you’ve been properly chugging your Starbucks, you’ve probably had a taste of CeU and fallen under her spell already.  Fresh from their song of the day promotion, now comes this remix from her debut album spotlighting four tracks from that set.  Still sexy and tropical to the core, CeU is one of the break out artists of 2007 that brought the right mix of sex and fun to the fore that so many others reached for and missed.
