DAVE FIELDS/Time’s A Wastin’: A young man with the blues that’s just at home composing music for the Olympics as he is playing with either U2 or Bobby Rush, this is simply Fields kicking out the jams, with a few Blues Brothers and some players of note that are often seen backing up some real notables. Much more tastier and authentic than you might expect from a white boy, Fields is feeling it and you’d be smart to hop on for a wonderfully wild ride. Check it out.

ELEFANT DREAMS
PAUL BOLLENBECK/Invocation: Even if you’ve never heard of this killer jazz guitar man, it ought to catch your attention that Randy Brecker showed up to lend a hand. He swings and plays with the kind of fire that too many of today’s hipsters simply think they are too cool to turn up to. With a lot of rock and fusion lurking in his back pages, he brings the kind of depth and style to the fore that you expect only from real pros. A fine ear opening date, this is a hot find for the guitar enthusiast looking for something new that will really turn him on.

BERNIE WORELL/Stranger on Earth: Cool docu about one of the great, insane(?) musical geniuses of our time. Like Mozart, he started off impressively with the classics while still a kid. From there, he wound up in Funkadelic. Quite a career trajectory? Along the way, he’s made every stop imaginable and touched almost every kind of music imaginable, often leaving quite a foot print behind. Quite a way to spend two hours getting to know the man behind the music, much of it you’ve loved.
