ANTONIO ADOLFO & CAROL SEBOYA/Ao Vivo Live: Let me warn you about something before you go shooting you mouth off about how much of a babe the chick singer is now that she ditched the Madonna punkette look; the old guy playing piano is her pop. Kind of cool when you have two legends on the stage together that are the same family but the Brazilian piano master and the major domo Mpb/bossa nova interpreter light sparks off each other that make you wonder why they aren’t more well known outside Brazil. Both playing at the top of their game, this set let’s them both shine brightly and if Bebel Gilberto has been your point of entry to Brazilian music, check this out if you are ready to take it to the next level. Find out for yourself why they’ve been going nuts for this set in Brazil. Hot stuff.

ANDREW GROSS (read by Ilyana Kadushin)/Blue Zone: After having been to the top of the charts several times as a co-writer, Gross has learned his lessons well and goes for the gold on his own with a taut tale of a family turned upside down by illusions that cause everyone to go into the witness protection program, except of course, the head strong daughter that can’t belief it’s all happening. Well, pappy was laundering money for the evil foreign drug dealers and now he’s gone missing from the witless and bodies are beginning to drop. This looks like an auspicious debut for a crisp new mystery/thriller writer that knows how to push your buttons like a pro. Well done and hopefully the beginning of a long string of more of the same.
BERNARD GOLDBERG/Crazies to the Left of Me Wimps to the Right: In which we find best selling conservative pundit going a touch Howard Beale on us. He still hates the left but now he is starting to hate Republicans even though he remains steadfast to the conservative agenda. Screw it, whoever wins, we all lose so it’s nice to see an equal opportunity curmudgeon, even if he’s not exactly dissing both sides from right on the center line. Extra points for not being Ann Coulter and telling it pretty much like it is. A great pit stop for political junkies.
DOROTHEA FRANK (read by Nanette Savard)/Land of Mango Sunsets: Suppose Harlequin Romance met the real world head on? Frank pulls that off here in her latest as the uptight divorcee has to deal with her husband running off to have kids with his long time whore, her kids being estranged and her southern belle mom is smoking dope in her old age. That’s just the beginning. Working the serio/comedy tip, there’s a lot of very visual passages that are just screaming for a cable movie now that Lifetime has a new boss. Chick fic made for the warmer days ahead.
