JAZZ PROMO SERVICES
ROCCO JOHN GROUP/Don’t Wait too Long: Contemporary jazzbo on the progressive tip cut his teeth blowing sax with Sam Rivers and cites all the cutting edge cats as influences.  Coming with a set of originals, this is leaning toward the free jazz side but there’s composition and thought that goes along with the chops and honking.  Thought provoking jazz in the traditional sense, and you can almost feel the cigarette smoke in the room.  A solid work out that is loaded with pure music for cutting edge tastes.

HECTOR MARTIGNON/Refugee: Martignon is a real classic jazzbo in a good way.  He respects tradition and gets some of this hippest cats around to show up for his sessions.  Accordingly, he writes with them in mind and you get a very special kind of set.  This outing is loaded with killer cats, like his past works, and the music is highly rewarding.  Bringing in jazz pros from all tastes and generations, Martignon is no “Zelig”, he’s the core that holds it all together.  Wonderful listening that going to take your ears to unexpected, welcome places sure to resoundingly open them wide.  In fact, the music hits the ground running and you will be blown away by what a driving date this is that never let’s up.  Genre splicing a fusion attitude with a post bop mentality, Martignon has something really special on the ball/  A pure killer date.

TOWNER GALAHER/Panorama: The well traveled drummer finally steps out on his own as a leader and makes the most of it.  With 20 years of the Big Apple under his Pacific northwest belt, Galaher is on the one, but he can put the beat where ever he wants it as well. With some first class cats on board to lend a hand, this is a tasty set that’s right in the jazz tradition, but there’s no dust on it.

DARYL STUERMER/Go: the tasty set from the fusion guitar that has found happiness on the prog rock ranks is a solid set of guitar that comes from the heart.  Like a personal retrospective made up of new works, you can feel Stuermer taking stock of his musical past, from his early days as a fusion pioneer from Milwaukee right up through the new Genesis reunion tour.  A killer guitarist enjoying the freedom of recording fro his own label, he uses that freedom well and makes the kind of set fusion guitar fans will get and love.

UNIVERSAL MUSIC ENTERPRISES
MOTOWN V. 2 #1s/various: When you can kick off a volume two with “Shop Around” and proceed to roll through 22 killer tracks, you know you have to lay some respect on the line.  A killer no fat collection that really puts the 60’s and more in perspective.  A no fat, hard core set that goes a long way in defining contemporary soul, even if it is tagged as volume two.
