AUDIOBOOK SUPPLEMENT
HARPER AUDIO
CHRISTOPHER MOORE (read by Fisher Stevens)/Lamb: Moore is quicky becoming one of the best left field humorists around. This is the unabridged telling of Jesus’ best bud, through his own eyes. If you can picture Jesus going through the lost years hanging out with the Big Lebowski, you get a handle on what’s going on here. Delightfully sacrilegious in time for the holidays, anyone with a taste for the offbeat is going to flip for this. Totally nutty and wonderful fun.
LESLIE BENNETTS/Feminine Mistake: Pro-feminist author makes the argument that it’s good for women to work rather than be stay at home moms. And she expects to get arguments from how many guys? I mean really, what are we supposed to say. You go girl!
LAURA LIPPMAN (read by Linda Emond)/What the Dead Know: Crime fiction writer has a bunch of awards under her belt but this is her most ambitious tome yet. Telling a story that shifts across decades to talk about a pair of sisters that disappeared a long time ago while trying to figure out just who is this girl that has resurfaced and claims to be one of the girls. Taut and gripping, with all the hallmarks good crime fic should have, Lippman has another winner on her fans that mystery/crime fic fans are sure to enjoy.
STEPHANE LAURENS (READ BY Elizabeth Sastre)/Taste of Innocence: Romantic fic for any chick lit fan in need of a new beach book. In a continuing story of the Cynsters, English mores and decorum amid flaring passion fuel this story. Like an upmarket Harlequin Romance, it might be a bit formulaic but it’s fun for genre fans.
NEAL BOORTZ/Somebody’s Gotta Say It: The talk show host might claim to be anti-liberal, but he really seems to be anti-government. This set is his pre-emptive strike against the upcoming election and points out the folly underpinning it before other pundits can. A must hear for political malcontents everywhere.
JACKIE MASON & RAOUL FELDER/Schmucks: If this was “Joe & Larry Get Pissed Off” it might not be as ear catching but the vet comic and the feisty divorce lawyer give this gripe fest the personality it needs to be something more than a bunch of bitter kvetching. This duo does a great job of getting it off your chest for you and they pack a lot of great laughs and smirks into only an hour. Humor, vitriol and satire in just the right measures. Check it out.
